By | 2009-11-22

If the Favorites menu is missing or grayed out in Internet Explorer, there may be a registry key that is causing it.

  1. Bring up the run command by holding down the Windows key, and tapping the R key.
  2. Type Regedit in the field, then click Ok.
  3. Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Internet Explorer\Restrictions
  4. Find the entry in the right pane that reads NoFavorites. Click once on the entry and press delete.

Please not that this procedure will work fine on personal machines. But if the favorites menu on your company laptop is grayed out. This may be by design.

Some system administrators, by company policy, will disable to the favorites menu on company machines, and you will be unable to apply this workaround.
