When installing Windows Vista, you may inadvertently misspell the Registered User or Company name. It does happen! Now you may be thinking that you have to re-install in order to fix the mistake, but not so. You can perform a small tweak to the registry to change the information as needed.
Follow these steps to change the registered user name or the company name on Windows:
- Click Start, then in the search area type:
Regedit - After opening the Registry editor, browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion - Look for the two values named RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization. Double-click the one you’d like to change.
