Microsoft is removing Aero Shake, or shake to minimize from Windows 10.
Aero shake was first introduced with Windows 7. It allows you to minimize all open windows except one by simply grabbing ahold of the taskbar and shaking it. Repeating the process brings all the other windows back to their previous state. While most people don’t even know this feature exists, and others find it extremely annoying to have all their windows minimize for seemingly no reason, others have found the feature quite useful.
The feature will most likely disappear in from Windows 10 in the first half of 2021, the feature has been removed from Windows 10 build 21277, which has already been deployed to Windows Insider Preview users.
Some folks in the program have provided the following registry entry to bring back Aero Shake, should you decide you want it back.
- Click Start, type RegEdit, then press enter.
- Browse to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
- In the right pane, right-click and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
- Name the new value DisallowShaking and set the value to 0.
- Close the Registry Editor and restart your system.
