A team of Reuters reporters put out an article early this morning, wherein China apparently is trying to play the victim.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said the United States must beef up cyber security against Chinese hackers targeting a range of U.S. interests to raise the cost to China of engaging in such activities.
Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi was quoted as saying, “China and the United States actually can make cyber security a point of cooperation, “We hope China, the United States and other countries could work together to work out the rules for cyber security in the international arena in the spirit of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.”
Yang also explained that China itself was a victim of hacking, and all attacks should be investigated on a case-by-case basis.
Give me a break. Please.
The world knows that the bulk of attempted intrusions come from Chinese networks. Numbers don’t lie. Even my own piddly little site sees hundreds of breach attempts from Chinese networks daily, mainly through SQL injection attempts, with a growing number of script kiddies trying run Wordpess exploits, all coming from China. If I’m having these issues, I can only imagine what problems important endpoints like .gov resources are having.
Check out this article which details the spam attempts on this site. It clearly shows that over sixty eight percent of spam attempts originate in China.
Stop trying to play the victim, China. Secure your gear and stop trying to get sympathy for something that is originating in your own kitchen.
