Microsoft has released a sidebar gadget, which you can download here, that gives insight into the SCOM environment for your organization.
Once you download the gadget, right-click it file and select Open. Click Install on the displayed dialog box. After installing the gadget, right-click on the gadget and select Options to enter server details so that the gadget can start monitoring.
