To deactivate or delete your Instagram account, you can use the following steps:
Deactivate Account
- Open the Instagram app or go to the Instagram website on your browser.
- Log in to your account if you’re not already logged in.
- Go to your profile by tapping/clicking on your profile picture.
- Click on the “Edit Profile” button.
- Scroll down and select “Temporarily disable my account” at the bottom right.
- Choose a reason for disabling your account from the dropdown menu.
- Re-enter your password when prompted.
- Click on the “Temporarily Disable Account” button.
Your account will be deactivated, and your profile, photos, comments, and likes will be hidden until you reactivate it by logging back in.
Delete Account
Be aware that deleting your account is permanent and irreversible, so make sure you want to proceed with this option. Also, keep in mind that you won’t be able to sign up again with the same username.
- Visit the Delete Your Account page on Instagram’s website. You can find it here.
- Log in to your account if you’re not already logged in.
- Choose an option from the dropdown menu next to “Why are you deleting your account?” This step is mandatory.
- Re-enter your password when prompted.
- Click on the “Permanently delete my account” button.
Your account and all associated data will be permanently removed from Instagram. Keep in mind that it may take some time for Instagram to process your request. Once the process is complete, you will no longer have access to your account or any of its data.
