Join Windows 7 to a Domain

By | 2009-08-29

Pretty straightforward process and hasn’t changed much since XP or Vista. But I do get some questions regarding this, so here it the process to get it done.

  1. Click Start, right-click Computer, and select properties.
  2. Click on Change Settings in the right pane that will open System Properties.
  3. Click Change and enter the domain name.
  4. Enter the username and password with permission to join the domain.
  5. If you have specified a valid domain, and an account that has rights to join that domain, you’ll get a welcome message, and then be asked to reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.
