Windows 7 Hotkeys List

If you like hotkeys like I like hotkeys, then you’ll love this list of Windows 7 specific keyboard shortcuts. Long live the keyboard commando!

Update: Taskbar modifiers added to the bottom of this list. Very handy stuff!

Windows + (Up Arrow)Maximize window
Windows + (Left Arrow)Snap window to left side covering half of desktop space. Continue pressing the keyboard shortcut will rotate the window between snap to left, snap to right and restore to normal position.
Windows + (Right Arrow)Snap window to right side covering half of desktop space. Continue pressing the keyboard shortcut will rotate the window between snap to left, snap to right and restore to normal position.
Windows + (Down Arrow)Minimize the window. Restore to normal size and position if the window is currently maximized.
Windows + HomeClear all but the active window.
Windows + SpaceAll windows become transparent so you can see through to the desktop.
Windows + Shift + (Left Arrow)Move the active window to the adjacent monitor on the left for dual or multiple monitors setup.
Windows + Shift + (Right Arrow)Move the active window to the adjacent monitor on the right for dual or multiple monitors setup.
Windows + TShow preview thumbnail of running applications in Windows Taskbar one by one without mouse over.
Windows + PAdjust presentation options of the display on computer or projector.
Windows + (plus sign)Zoom in.
Windows + (Minus sign)Zoom out.
Shift + Click a Taskbar itemOpen a new instance of that particular application.
Shift + Click on iconOpen a new instance
Middle click on iconOpen a new instance
Ctrl + Shift + Click on iconOpen a new instance with Admin privileges
Shift + Right-click on iconShow window menu (Restore / Minimize / Move / etc)
Note: Normally you can just right-click on the window thumbnail to get this menu
Shift + Right-click on grouped iconMenu with Restore All / Minimize All / Close All, etc.
Ctrl + Click on grouped iconCycle between the windows (or tabs) in the group
